Say no to Mandal 2

The proposed increase in OBC reservation from 22.5% to 27% in premier educational institutes in India has created the big students' uprising here. (The photo is from AFP taken  during the students' uprising against reservation). The proposal seems to be politically motivated to garner up the vote share for congress in the election period.

It's government duty to provide equal oppurtunities for all its citizens to lead a normal life. A child from economically backward class has to face lot of challenges in family. When comes to competing with peer group in getting a good education, he/she stands in a disadvantage position. Historically reservation started to supplement this difference. Few percent of seats in educational institution are reserved in quotas for different segment of the people.

Mind my words usage when describing, it is economically backward class and it's not caste. This is the place where politics has enter into reservation policy. Linking caste with class is the historical blunder. It's like generalising people based on their sun signs- say Taureans are soft hearted people, lets reserve 15% of management seats for them. Funny, isn't it? Giving reservations based on the caste itself is a joke, besides that these stupid politicians keeps on increasing the quota.

The creamy layer idealogy essentially means there are different segments of people in same caste in different economic classes. When you prefer caste based reservation system, the whole idea of supplementing those disadvantaged people in their challenges gets defeated. So, what can be the possible solution?

Lets take the good points in arguments of those for and against the reservation. Lets develop a situation where consensus in a good reservation policy be arrived at. My take would be - lets categorise people based on their economy and livelihood. Propose reservation based on economic classes. Update people's status based on constant feedback and update their status. It's not that impossible. Indian census does this segregation and lets improve on the system. We have the all the essential system in place, refining the system based on consensus is what is needed.

Please see what I am telling.... Reservation is needed, but students whose parents are graduates should be allowed only under Open Quota

Society is like a bullock cart with two bulls.......

Now if the cart has to run fast, BOTH BULLS are to be good....

WHat is the use of a cart where one bull is very strong and another bull is weak........ The MAXIMUM speed of the cart CAN BE ONLY THE SPEED of the weakest bull....... So we improve the nutrition of the weak bull even if it leads to starving the STRONG BULL.....

This is what reservation is exactly.... You give the seats WHICH A STUDENT FROM FORWARD COMMUNITY WOULD HAVE GOT to a student from the weaker community, because ONLY if the weaker community gets a little stronger, the cart can move.............

Now what criteria to follow who is strong and who is weak.....

1. Economics........... It is a well known fact that THIS is the easiest factor to cheat.......... If we give reservations based on economics, the students of employeed sector will suffer....... WE very well know that you and me pay more income tax than the leading textile owner in your town who earns 2 to 3 lakhs per month............ Except for salaried class of people, how can you check the TRUE income of other sectors . Another factor is that wealth is not stationery.......... Many persons who had a comfortable life were rendered homeless after Tsunami or earth quake.. A rich person can become poor over night......... Many people earn well by their hard work and a poor person can become rich in few years (if he enters cinema or other art field for example)..... So MONEY is subject to change and can be hidden

2. Religion... Easy to change....... If you say that there is 20 % of reservation for those following Din-e-Ilahi, every one will embrace that .....And more over I can show you atleast 100 people who do not believe in god........... What religion will you fix to them.......And then there are people who believe that there is ONE God......... What religion can you give them............ and there are few who follow more than one religion (when both their parents are of different religion, for example)...... Other than the fact that Religion can be changed with regard to time, it can be hidden.........

3. Caste..... Because this system is routed deeply in our culture, WE CANNOT CHANGE our caste..... hence this was based as the criteria for reservation........ because of the various criteria we can consider this DOES NOT CHANGE WITH TIME

Please see the posts
- Merit list that shows merit and
- Reservation and upliftment

Reservation may be bad for the OC guy who misses the seat when he has 293, but without that the SC guy would not have got Medical Seat.

Now, if the SC guy who got 293 was given the SAME GUIDANCE AND HOME as the Forward guy who got 294, this SC guy ALSO would have scored 294 or even more.

When you are on a running race, if the person who is handicapped IS NOT GIVEN a start, then the result of the race is of no use.

Reservation is needed, but students whose parents are graduates should be allowed only under Open Quota.

The same media which potrayed the same doctors as selfish and disrupting services when they went on a strike to protest a patient slapping a doctor, now supports the doctors on this strike.

This is because of the simple reason that Media is biased

How do we know said...

I am against reservations. Period. The idea is too preposterous to even be condemned. It just deserves to be thrown out, along with the government that brought it in.
btw:Point for Arjun Singh to consider. VP Singh went ahead and implmeneted the Mandal commision 27% reservations in spite of students dying in the agitation. But that was the end of his political career as well. he has never been able to return to any significant post in this country, and no one misses him.
Hell, no one even clicks his pictures in the P3 parties! I don't even know if anyone remembers him.Arjun Singh should remember that. And MM Joshi is in no danger of returning to power.

The government might push something for what it thinks is the votebank. But the vote bank has its ways of coming back to punish.

I think the earlier proposed BULL thoeory is nothing but a BULL SHIT. Let us refine it, and remove the tag of its being BS.

Please see what I am telling.... Reservation is absurd, it only means dicrimination. A new English noun "Indian Reservation" n. --> "A discrimination based on caste"

Please pay a little attention here. and lets go thro' the BULL Thoery again by removing assumptions and adding FACTS/AXIOMS.

Society is like a bullock cart with two "castrated" bulls..."Bullocks"

Now if the cart has to run fast and "SAFE", BOTH BULLS are to be good..and of course, "CASTRATED".

Castration is done so that bull's aggressiveness can be removed and hence the bullock cart runs safe and easty to handle. Otherwise, any person who may not holding any Ph.D will know what will happen.

What is the use of a cart where one bull is castrated and another bull is not........ The DIRECTION of the cart is not defined by the castrated bull and the rider but will go anywhere where the stupid, aggressive uncastrated bull wants to take....... So we need to castrate the uncastrated bull first to remove its aggressiveness which is unwanted.

That is why reservation should NOT be EXACTLY!! You give education at the primary level to the LOWER CASTE people (hmm.. castrate them), ONLY if the weaker community gets a little educated, only then you will give them the cart so that they can move it judically......

Now what is the criteria to decide who needs to be castrated...

obviously, the uneducated people who may belong to LOWER CASTE or upper caste.. and of course, who wants to pull the cart.

EDUCATION at primary level is important because uneducated people cant run the country.

CASTE is not permanent, for the sake of bloody hell. Those who support caste are orthodox in belief. Intercaste marriages are happening in India, apart from inter-religion. No way any school or college discriminate students based on caste.

The one who supports reservation based on caste are dividing India, dividing us.

Now, you can see the first aftermath of reservation....

IMA(Indian Medical Association) IS SPLIT!! who can believe that the doctors who never payed any heeds to caste-ism will split because of it!!

Let us dont Bull Shit the India... Feeding the bulls will not lead you anywhere..hmm..well, castrate them!!

Sateesh,
Read your article about Reservation issue. I thought of sharing my view. It is good to categorise based on the economical status of the person. But look into the earlier india during 50's, 60's, 70's where caste domination was there in our soceity. Everyone knows that Brahmins and other forward castes were in the top level authorities and almost in all government offices. If the reservation has not been liberalised for our communities you and I would not have grown to this level. We would still see the brahmins ruling our soceity.

I have more inputs on this. If you want to know I can give you detailed explanation.
