New Template

Hey guys, I've updated the template. Please voice your comments. Do you like the colors and all? Does it load properly? Is the image taking forever to load? Please specify the bugs. And enjoy!

The template change and hack is done by Orion Faktory. This is our Year 1 template. If you have any suggestions or designs please forward the information and we will load it. Year 1 ends in August.

Nice effort GP! Like the title of the page a lot.

I have a 1280x1024 resolution - and on a maximized browzer (IE) window, the page occupies only 3/4 of the screen. Need to adjust the size?

Hi guys, hey Cosmicblob,Thanx! actually ivce used the maximum amount of pixels allowed. Its just that screens nowdays have great resolutions that we cant dont anything bout it. If you try using the 1024*7xx resolution, it would be nice.

Thanx saty.

Overall I like it. The Earth graphic is very nice.

As far as load times, that is not really an issue for those of us with broadband connections. (It loads up nearly instantly on my computer.) Shouldn't be too bad for those with dialup either, as the graphic looks to be only about 34KB.

My only real gripe (and it's not a biggie at all) is that I agree with cosmicblob; on my screen the blog also only stretches about 3/4 of the way across, leaving a lot of blank black space on the right side. The black is good around the Earth graphic, but looks empty elsewhere. One possible solution might be to replace it with a starry background. Another would be to have a background image/color that's black at the top but fades to some other color (maybe gray?) at the bottom. Just a simple color gradient. The World Science website does some wonderful things with background images too; that might be a source of artistic and/or technical inspiration.

Ok I have to confess...im a bit naive in the coding section...even for this template i spend a whole 18 hours continuously to tweak it...and now I dont know how to make the width flexible. Anyone out there...please help me...and also how to put the background image???

You can learn a lot of HTML by finding a web page that has what you want on it, and looking at its source code. (In Firefox, press ^U; in IE, I think it's in one of the menus.) To use a background image, stick it in the < body> statement, like this:
< body text="#FFFFFF" bgcolor="#000000" link="#33CCFF" vlink="#FFFF99" background="background.jpg">

What exactly are you wanting to make the width flexible with? An image, table cell, frame? Note that with width statements, you can make something a certain width with either a set number of pixels wide (e.g. "width=800"), or as a percentage of the user's screen width ("width=80%").

the layout is kewl. just a thought, that it will look better if the side bar orange is made as the same blue for the posts. or vice versa the posts are made the same color as the side bar. it's just a suggestion.
